Christmas Pregnancy Announcement Ideas

Christmas Pregnancy Announcement Ideas

This season is so magical for many reasons! I mean who doesn’t love all the sights, sounds, and spirit of Christmas? And if you have a bun in the oven, what better time to announce a pregnancy then at Christmas?

Before you ask, no I am not pregnant. However, during my first pregnancy, I researched lots of ideas for the perfect way to announce it. Some of my favorites were the Christmas themed ones. We ended up announcing before Christmas time but I did use some of my favorite ideas for our gender reveal photos.

In hopes of helping to bring inspiration to anyone looking to announce a pregnancy soon — I have collected this list of the cutest Christmas themed pregnancy announcements that I have come across. Enjoy!

Baby Ornament

Make a baby-themed ornament. It could be an ornament with an ultrasound photo inside, some little baby-related items inside, or another generic baby ornament. I made Christmas ornaments filled with colored confetti and ribbon that said baby girl/baby boy for our gender announcement to our families.

Candy Cane Heart

Probably my favorite Christmas themed announcement I’ve seen is holding candy canes in the shape of a heart over your belly. We did this as part of our family Christmas photos the year I was pregnant with my daughter and it was so cute!

Christmas Onesie

A lot of people do baby announcements with baby onesies that have a cute saying. Christmas time is no exception! Buy a cute Christmas themed onesie or if you’re a big DIYer, make it yourself. Then put the onesie on display for your announcement photo.

Christmas Cookies

Another common idea I’ve seen for pregnancy announcements is the mom “eating for two” while stuffing her face with snacks and candy. You can repurpose this idea specifically for Christmas. Try an “eating for two” theme with Christmas cookies and holiday-themed treats. You could also lineup the family with everyone eating cookies and have a little plate sitting on the counter untouched as the baby’s plate.

Snowman Family

If you have snow where you are this idea is super cute! Build a snowman for each family member: dad, mom, any siblings, and the new baby. You could also do one where the snow mom is visibly pregnant or holding a baby snowman.

Snow Angel Family

Much like the snowmen family, you can do an announcement with a snow angel family. Have each family member do a snow angel lined up. Then make a tiny one for the new baby to come.

Bump Silhouette

This one is super cute! I love silhouette photos. It doesn’t matter if you have a big or small bump, you can still do it. Just take a photo of mommy’s silhouette cradling her baby bump in front of a lit-up Christmas tree or Christmas lights. It’s so festive and a cute, simple way to announce your new baby.

Christmas Stockings

Line up your mantle with everyone’s stockings and add a new one for the new addition. A simple, to the point, and yet still adorable pregnancy announcement.

Santa Hats

Line up some Santa hats for every family member, including a little one for the new baby. This one is similar to the other family line up photo announcements but with another festive twist.

Christmas Jammies

Take a typical family photo with everyone in matching Christmas jammies. You could hold a felt board with a cute saying about the new addition or have a pair of baby jammies in the photo too.

Gift Wrapped Bump

This is another one of my top favorite ideas! Tie a ribbon in a bow around your bump so that it looks like a present. Include a tag that says “Do not open until _____” (insert due date). The best gift for the Christmas season!

Mistletoe Kiss

Break out the mistletoe and pucker up! You could hold the mistletoe above your head and kiss your partner while cradling your baby bump. Or hold the mistletoe over your belly while your partner kisses your bump. Super cute and festive either way.

Christmas Wreath Around Ultrasound

Some of my favorite announcement ideas are the simple ones with just an ultrasound photo and a couple of cute items around it. Why not do the same for your Christmas themed announcement too? Try a simple flat lay photo with an ultrasound photo and a Christmas wreath around it. Or if you want something a little different try some miscellaneous Christmas items beside the ultrasound photo. Sometimes the simplest photos are the most elegant.

Maternity Shirt

There are so many cute maternity shirts with items on the belly that are associated with the baby. Grab a Christmas themed one and take a simple photo in it for the announcement. Easy to do, as cute as anything else, and you can wear the shirt for the rest of your pregnancy. Triple win!

Baby’s 1st Christmas Item

Use a baby’s 1st Christmas item for your announcement. One of the favorite items I got for my daughter when she was a baby was a little Elf on the Shelf baby cuddly that says “My 1st Elf”. It is super cute and would make the best item for a baby announcement photo.

There are so many cute Christmas sayings and songs that can tie in to make a cute pregnancy announcement. If you are looking for some ideas of how to word your Christmas pregnancy announcement or looking to customize some cute shirts or items for it — here are some of my favorites:

  • We’re trading silent nights for a bundle of joy
  • Merry, bright & expecting
  • Bumpin around the Christmas tree
  • The more the merrier
  • Santa baby
  • Baby, it’s cold outside
  • Mistletoes
  • All I want for Christmas is you

Christmas announcements are quite possibly my favorite out of any kind of baby announcement. There are just so many cool ideas out there! Do you have a favorite Christmas pregnancy announcement idea? Let me know in the comments below!
