Fall Bucket List Activities
This season I’ve seen so many posts about Fall Bucket Lists. Which is essentially a to-do list of fall activities. I’ve never heard of this being a thing prior to this year but I think it is such a cool idea! In fact, I think I’m going to make it a thing for every season with my family.
Are you in need of some fall activity ideas for your family? I have compiled this list of fun fall activities to add to your Fall Bucket List!
Go Apple Picking
I did this for the first time last year when my son was an infant. I was living with my parents temporarily after Hurricane Florence and looking for fun activities to do to get out of the house. We found an apple orchard and went. It was so fun! I can’t wait to take my kids again now that they’re older and can actually pick the apples.
Go to the Pumpkin Patch
We love going to the pumpkin patch for all the fun activities they have for kids and to pick out our pumpkins for the year. It is also a great photo op place for festive fall pictures.
Visit a Sunflower Field
This year we actually went to sunflower fields in July. Our area planted them late due to Hurricane Florence from last year. I have heard of a bunch of fields that bloom around September but always check around because they may have them at different times depending on your area and the weather. They can bloom anywhere from late summer to early fall.
Make a Fall Craft
Craft time is always a great activity to do something new. Growing up I loved doing different seasonal crafts. My kids are still a little young but I plan to do some crafts with them this year.
Carve a Pumpkin
In our house I usually pick out a design and my hubby is the one who does the actual carving. But it is still a fun activity to spend time together as a family and get cute fall decor afterward.
Do a Corn Maze
We did a corn maze when my daughter was an infant and I can’t wait to do another one this year! Where we live our pumpkin patch does a corn maze as well so we get to do both at the same time. Win/win! I also love taking photos in the giant stocks of corn – they are so cute.
Go on a Hayride
Most pumpkin patches give a hayride to the pumpkin fields for picking. If yours doesn’t, just do a quick Google search for local hayrides. My kids love going on hayrides.
Pick Halloween Costumes
This is one of my faves! I love doing family group themes for costumes. I take full advantage of this young age where my kids are happy to be whatever I pick and aren’t wanting to choose their own costumes yet.
Watch Fall-Themed Movies
Now’s the time to enjoy those fall and Halloween themed flicks! I personally love the Hallmark Harvest movies and family-friendly Halloween flicks like Hocus Pocus, Twitches, and Halloweentown.
Make a Fall Treat
For those who love pumpkin-flavored items, this is your season! For those, like me, who aren’t pumpkin fans there are so many other options out there to make a tasty fall-themed treat. My personal favorite is mixing candy corn with dry roasted peanuts. I make a big bowl of it every year.
Go to a Fall Festival
Most places do some sort of festival during fall time. For our local area, they do the county fair in September and a mum festival in October every year. This year we went to both for the first time and it was a blast! We also went to a Seafood festival near us in October. If your exact city doesn’t do anything look around to bigger cities near you.
Go to a Football Game
Football was huge in my house growing up. We loved watching it on TV and in person. I don’t follow football anymore but my husband still loves to try and go to local games. This is a fun fall family outing.
Play in Leaves
One of my favorite childhood past times is racking a big pile of leaves and then jumping/playing in it. If you live where the leaves change colors and fall from the trees, take full advantage and give this a go. It’s such a fun activity for kids.
Build a Bonfire
With fall comes cooler weather (in most places). What better way to stay warm then by building a bonfire? You can cozy up, hang out with friends, sing songs, tell stories, and make food by the fire. Roasting marshmallows and making S’mores are a favorite bonfire past time. So grab your family and some friends and have a nice evening outside.
Make Thanksgiving Crafts
I’m so excited to make some Thanksgiving/turkey-themed crafts this year with my kids. This was a huge holiday for my family growing up and we always made handprint turkeys or other decorations to hang on the wall.
My favorites and yearly go-to’s are the pumpkin patch and Halloween costumes. It’s so fun crossing items off of bucket lists. I’m planning on getting most of them checked off for this year soon. Let me know your family favorite activities for fall in the comments below. Happy Fall Y’all!
